Eire is the name of Ireland in Irish.
Ireland is the third largest island in Europe. The Republic of Ireland is an
independed country, separate from Northen Ireland which is part of the United
Kingdom. It is an island in the North Atlantic to the west of Great
Britain from which is separated by the North Channel, the
Irish Sea and St George Channel.
Ireland has a mild, temperate
climate with summer temperatures
generally ranging from 15˚C to 20˚C. Temperatures in spring and autumn are
generally 10˚C and in winter between 5˚C and 8˚C. Snow is rare but rain can
occur at any time of the year.
The official languages of Ireland are Irish (Gaelic) and
English so
the street and roads signs are all bilingual.
Green is the national colour. The symbol of Ireland is the shamrock.
